Be sure to use the proper gauge (or thickness) of wire or speaker cable for the length required to run the distance between your amplifier and your speakers. If the length is 30 feet, use a minimum of 18 gauge (.75 mm); use 16 gauge (1.5 mm) for 45 feet or 14 gauge (2 mm) for 70 feet. Supplied custom mounting brackets offer a range of placement options.

staggering how population rate without testing : Bose 161 Bookshelf Speaker System (Black)

These speakers are no ifs ands or buts intended for use as surround speakers. I recently upgraded my 5.1 receiver to an Onkyo 7.1 with 100 watts per channel. I've been using Klipsch speakers L/R and center and Boston for the side surround in my existing set-up. My home theater room is not large, about 13 by 20. I understanding it would be nice to add the two rear speakers to my existing surround set-up. I am a expert musician and a movie buff. Capability as well as versatility are both significant for my listening. My son (also a musician) already uses Bose 161s for his surround set-up and recommended them. I have not been disappointed. I tested them with some of my Thx encoded Dvds and as rear channel speakers they fit in seamlessly.

I can't testify to the execution of these speakers as customary speakers. Some population have used them this way with apparent success, but Bose no ifs ands or buts did intend these as surround speakers and for those on a allocation or dealing with minuscule space they are ideal for the intended purpose. As surround speakers I rate them 5 stars.
